Dear Colleagues,
I am saddened to report that Peter Lefkow has died.
Peter was a friend to all, and a great presence at NYU for more than 40 years. He taught countless students, housestaff, and fellows in Cardiology. He rose through the ranks, becoming Clinical Professor of Medicine, and represented his colleagues in the Faculty Council. To all who knew him, Peter was unique.
He will be missed by many.

Message from Dr. Robert I. Grossman and Dr. Steven B. Abramson on the death of Dr. Peter A. Lefkow
Dear Colleagues,
We are sorry to announce the passing of our friend and colleague, Peter A. Lefkow, M.D., clinical professor of medicine and director of cardiology programs at the Joan and Joel Smilow Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention Center of Rusk Institute, who died Sunday evening.
A devoted 1972 alumnus of the School of Medicine, Peter became a full member of the faculty the following year, completing his residency in internal medicine here in 1975 and his fellowship in cardiology two years later. As someone who loved NYU, he would spend his entire 36-year career here at NYU. Peter was an unfaltering advocate for NYU and his fellow faculty members and an outstanding clinical cardiologist, passionately committed to his colleagues, students and patients.
Our sincerest condolences go to his mother, Charlotte Lefkow, daughters Danielle, Lindsey and Christie, and his sister Susan Lefkow.
Robert I. Grossman, M.D. Dean & CEO
Steven B. Abramson, M.D. Vice Dean Education, Faculty, and Academic Affairs
