On June 15, the Department of Medicine launched the first issue of its new biannual newsletter, Conversations in Medicine, directed to the friends, supporters and members of the Department of Medicine at the NYU Langone Medical Center.

The inaugural issue includes an introductory note from Dr. Martin J. Blaser, Chair of the Department of Medicine. He writes:

The NYU Department of Medicine is constantly on the move, filled with extraordinary men and women working tirelessly every day to fulfill our three-pronged mission: to provide the finest patient care possible, teach the practice of medicine to the next generation of students and house staff, and conduct innovative research that will expand the frontiers of medical science. In the process, the Department of Medicine community generates countless remarkable stories, and now, I am very pleased to be able to share at least some of them on a regular basis with our friends and supporters.

Conversations in Medicine will appear twice a year, in June and November, providing updates on the Department of Medicine, its achievements, breakthroughs, special events, and milestones. Each issue will include a story from the Department’s Residency Program blog, Clinical Correlations, and a feature on one or more of the Department’s supporters, whose generosity makes possible so much of what the Department does.
