The Committee for Women in Medicine and Science
The Committee for Women in Medicine and Science addresses issues of concern to women students and faculty through seminars, meetings, receptions, and conferences. The mission of the Committee is to provide a forum for exchanging advice and information that will smooth the path for women in medicine and science, including discussions about balancing the demands of a professional and personal life.
Each fall, the Committee invites women students to attend a reception. The committee also sponsors luncheons for small groups of first-year medical students, faculty members, and upperclasswomen.
American Medical Women's Association
Women medical students are encouraged to join the NYU student branch of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA). This national organization promotes issues of interest to women physicians and strives to ensure that they have equal opportunities in the study and practice of medicine. AMWA sponsors workshops and speakers on campuses around the country. The Association also holds regional and national meetings to which the School of Medicine’s chapter of AMWA sends its officers as representatives.
