Department of Medicine - Reading Syllabus

This syllabus contains recent, excellent tutorial articles on major topics in internal medicine. Reading the articles on this list should provide an introduction to major topics. However, this syllabus is not comprehensive. Students must read on a daily basis, using the problems they encounter on the wards as a guide. Appropriate sources include major textbooks (Harrison's "Principle's of Internal Medicine" is the official textbook of the department) and tutorial articles from internal medicine journals.

How to access these articles:

These articles are readily available from the chief residents. However, they are also easily accessed from the Ehrman medical library website. Click on: "E-resources" and choose "E-journals." For example: To access the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), click on "N" and scroll down to the NEJM link. After following the link, from the NEJM home page, you can select an article from the archive, or use the "search" option to find an article of interest. You can limit the search to include only review articles.
