Clinical services are provided through the Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors
of Torture, which is housed at Bellevue Hospital. Clients have access
to a full range of services, including primary and specialized medical
care, mental health services including individual and group therapy, psychiatric
evaluation and treatment; social services include assistance with housing,
education and legal assistance.
The Program has established an international reputation for excellence
in its clinical, educational and research activities. Culturally-appropriate
support groups for French-speaking Africans, as well as Tibetan survivors
of torture have been one groundbreaking development integrated into the
Program’s clinical services.
The Program also has an active program for volunteers who tutor clients
in English and computer skills, and support the administrative needs of
the Program for Survivors of Torture.
