To help break the pain/dysfunction cycle, stress management workshops and individual sessions are held to teach relaxation, self hypnosis, cognitive restructuring and other strategies for reducing pain and increasing coping skills. Biofeedback training contributes to understanding the autonomic and neuromuscular components of pain and helps provide objective measures and aids for progress.
Through a medication management program, patients are weaned from medication abuse. Patients may be placed on appropriate anti-anxiety, anti-depressant, anti-inflammatory or other appropriate medication regimens.
Individual and Group Psychotherapy helps patients cope with work, promote a sense of control and reinforces the program philosophy of not letting "pain be your guide".
