Nordin conducts Return-to-Work and Physical Therapy programs for patients
with nonspecific low back pain that include fitness, education, stress
reduction, and pain management. She is at the forefront of research in
the prediction and prevention of disability from low back pain and occupation-related
injury. Dr. Nordin is the former President (1999-2000) of the ISSLS (International
Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine), the multiprofessional global
society for research on the lumbar spine. She is the author of more than
100 scientific papers and three books on occupational musculoskeletal
injuries. Her areas of interest include the study and evaluation of routine
movements such as lifting, the care of low back pain, and factors contributing
to cumulative trauma.
