Clinical Responsibilities
Christopher Gharibo, MD is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at NYU School of Medicine and serves as the Medical Director of Pain Medicine within the Department of Anesthesiology at NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases. He obtained his M.D. degree from New Jersey Medical School in 1992 and completed his anesthesiology residency at NYU Medical Center. He served his Pain Medicine fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and American Board of Pain Medicine and holds Special Qualifications in Pain Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include low back and neck pain of musculoskeletal and spinal origin, cancer pain, and neuropathic pain syndromes such as painful peripheral neuropathies, reflex sympathetic dystrophy and many other chronic pain conditions. He holds particular pharmacological and clinical experience in acute and perioperative pain management. His areas of technical expertise include nerve blocks, spinal injection techniques for diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain syndromes including epidural steroid injections, facet injections, selective root blocks, radiofrequency rhizotomy, and discography as well as implantable drug delivery systems and spinal cord stimulators.
