Bones and Discs
Vertebrae
A vertebral bone (vertebra) consists of a body, a vertebral arch, and special
bony processes arising from the arch.
Facet Joints
At each level of the spine between two vertebrae and the disc, the posterior
bony elements meet on each side of the spine and a joint is formed, known
as a facet joint.
Interverebral
Between each vertebra is a soft tissue, elastic structure called a spinal
disc, or intervertebral disc.
