NYU Langone Medical Center and its Harkness Center for Dance Injuries program are committed to serving injured dancers regardless of ability to pay. Our physicians donate their time for the professional services they provide at our Dance Clinic and we routinely help dancers identify whether they are eligible for Medicaid or other sources of financial assistance. Below is a list of the financial assistance programs we offer:
The NYU Langone Medical Center’s Hospital for Joint Diseases strives to provide medically necessary care to patients regardless of their ability to pay.
New York State residents receiving services at the Hospital who meet specific criteria are eligible for the Hospital's financial assistance program if they (1) are uninsured, (2) have exhausted their insurance benefits, or (3) incur deductibles, co-payments or co-insurance costs which they are unable to pay.
This financial assistance program covers all medically necessary services at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, Tisch Hospital and Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine. For the purposes of this program, “medically necessary” shall be determined in accordance with Medicare guidelines.

In 1997, the LuEsther T. Mertz Advised Fund of the New York Community Trust made a challenge gift to the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries to create an endowment that would ensure a long-term solution for providing access to healthcare for dancers without insurance or financial means.
Dancers who formally demonstrate financial need are eligible for support by this endowment fund if they complete an application and submit proof of income, savings and expenses.
