News and Events at the Center for Children

The NYUHJD Center for Children recently welcomed Dennis A. Cardone, DO, Clinical Associate Professor and member of the NYUHJD Sports Medicine Division as Director of the Children and Adolescent Sports Clinic. Dr. Cardone is a fellowship-trained and board certified specialist in pediatric and adult sports medicine with faculty practice offices at NYU Langone Medical Center and NYU Trinity Center.

Dr. Cardone received his medical degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship training at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS). At UMDNJ-RWJMS, he served as both Director of Sports Medicine and Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. Most recently, Dr. Cardone was an associate with Pediatric Orthopedics of Southwest Florida in Fort Myers, Florida. In addition to lecturing nationally on sports medicine topics, Dr. Cardone has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and textbooks. He has been a team physician for Princeton University, Rutgers University, numerous high schools, and the Paralympics. Dr. Cardone was selected to serve on the Medical Advisory Board for the Florida High School Athletic Association as well as numerous sports medicine advisory panels. He has a special interest in treating young athletes and athletes with special needs.

Dr. Cardone's clinical focus includes:

Muscle and ligament injuries (strains and sprains); fractures; dislocations; knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow and other joint pains; back pain and spondylolysis; overuse injuries; Little League elbow and shoulder; shin splints and stress fractures; concussions; exercise induced asthma; eating disorders in athletes; sports supplements (ergogenic aids); and sports injury prevention.
