Hassenfeld partners with Reach Out and Read to promote early literacy and reading, especially among its patients and their siblings between the ages of six months and five years of age.

As members of a Reach Out and Read designated clinic, the Hassenfeld staff work hard to provide an environment that promotes literacy, reading skills, school readiness, and language development in a fun way.

Hassenfeld has scheduled reading hours when volunteers read to young children in the waiting room.

Our library also has a number of books for patients and their family members to borrow during their clinic visit.

The Hassenfeld librarian is also available to answer questions about outside literacy and reading resources in New York City.

Through Hassenfeld’s Reach Out and Read program, Hassenfeld’s youngest patients and their siblings build strong reading foundations that help them succeed when they start school.
