Director:
Christopher Dixon, M.D.
The Benign Prostatic Disease Program is committed to the development of innovative medical and surgical therapies for benign prostatic diseases such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatitis. BPH is the most common cause of voiding dysfunction in male patients over the age of 40. The program offers a comprehensive urinary tract evaluation and a practical approach to treat this condition. Treatment includes medical therapy, minimally invasive surgery or standard surgery. Sometimes treatment is not necessary at all. Alternative therapies - such as natural products and new medications or technologies - are continuously being evaluated to provide a state-of-the-art treatment program.

Prostatitis is a poorly understood problem that causes bothersome voiding
dysfunction and discomfort and typically affects men under 40 years of age.
Dr. Dixon has developed an evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and treatment
of the disorder.
