Young Professionals Brunch
On Sunday, January 23rd, the FACES Young Professionals Group met for an informal brunch at Nolita House in downtown NYC. The topics of conversation included epilepsy in the workplace and in social situations.

Anita Kaufman Foundation Scholarship Contest
The Anita Kaufman Foundation and FACES sponsored a scholarship contest for high school students. The goal of the contest was to educate teens about epilepsy because of the misconceptions, prejudices, and stigmas attached to epilepsy. First prize was $5,000 with second, third and fourth prizes awarded.

New York Knicks Game
The NY Knicks generously donated tickets to the New York Knicks vs. the Indiana Pacers game on Saturday, February 26th.

New York Mets Game
Special thanks to the New York Mets and Mr. Steven Casano for donating tickets to the April 16th Mets vs. Marlins game at Shea Stadium.

New York Mets Game 2
On August 19th, Michael Schreck and the New York Mets provided a great night out at Shea Stadium for friends of FACES. The Mets did not disappoint as they shut out the Washington Nationals 1-0. Many thanks to The New York Mets organization for treating FACES families to two games this season.

Yankees Game
Special Thanks to Mass Mutual, Exceptional Parent and the New York Yankees for donating tickets to the July 5th game against the Baltimore Orioles. FACES' very own Dr. Devinsky was honored before the game by Exceptional Parent, receiving their Maxwell J. Schleifer Distinguished Service Award.

Charity Spin in the Hamptons
FACES hosted a charity spin fundraiser on August 20th in East Hampton, NY. Participants took part in a two-hour spin class to raise money for FACES research and programs. Special thanks to Zonehampton manager Marion Roaman for hosting the event and to Jill Robbins and Richard Shane for assisting with event preparation and the event itself.

FACES Gala 2005
The annual FACES gala was a wonderful success! On April 4th friends and supporters of faces gathered together at Pier 60 in New York City. The event raised over $2.7 million dollars for epilepsy research and programs at NYU. A special thank you to Randi and Jeff Levine and Deborah and Orrin Devinsky, the co-chairs for this year’s event, to Margot Chvatal, the auction chair, and to Candice Stark, journal chair, for all of their hard work! Also, many thanks to our honoree, Michael Milken; to Tony Coelho for presenting Mr. Milken with his award; to the emcee for the evening, Jon Stewart; and finally, to our special guest, Governor Richard Codey.

The Evening Epilepsy Lecture Series is a personal way to interact with the compassionate doctors from the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center.

2005 Epilepsy Symposium
FACES and the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center held their annual conference on Saturday, September 17th at NYU Medical Center in NYC. This free conference featured three simultaneous programs (Adult, Pediatric and Spanish) covering topics of great interest to the epilepsy community. Game Day at Chelsea Piers
On Sunday, October 2nd families got to enjoy a fun-filled time at the Field House at Chelsea Piers. Guests enjoyed carnival games, soccer, basketball, arts and crafts, batting cages, gymnastics, rock climbing and remote controlled race cars. There was also face painting, balloon animals, and a magic show! Many thanks to Sharon Perhac, Michelle Aguas, Sylvia Rothbein and all volunteers who helped make the event a wonderful success.

2005 Chita Rivera Fall Fundraiser Event
On Tuesday, November 22nd at 3pm, supporters of FACES were treated to a truly unique Broadway experience at the Schoenfeld Theatre. They enjoyed a final dress rehearsal for Broadway legend Chita Rivera’s latest show, “Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life.” The two-time Tony Award winner put on a dazzling display of her life as a dancer and the many exciting circumstances she met along the way. FACES would like to thank Jim Brandeberry and Allan Wasser Associates for donating tickets to this one-of-a-kind event.
