The Faculty Affairs side of EFAA has ultimate responsibility for all
issues of promotion and tenure for the School of Medicine?s faculty.
The University?s Faculty
Handbook, and the Medical School's Revision
to the Policies and Procedures for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure
at the School of Medicine, which became effective April 1, 2002,
are the documents which govern such matters. Faculty with questions
may either contact their own department's Departmental Appointments
and Promotions Committee, or they may contact EFAA directly.
Steven B. Abramson, M.D.
Professor and Vice Dean for Education, Faculty and Academic Affairs
Dr. Abramson is responsible for all of the activities of the Education, Faculty and Academic Affairs office. A graduate of Dartmouth College, Dr. Abramson earned his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and in 1974 arrived at NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital for his internship. He is Professor of Medicine and Pathology, Director of the Division of Rheumatology, and Associate Dean for Clinical Research. |

Joan Ehrlich, J.D.
Assistant Dean for Education, Faculty and Academic Affairs
Joan Ehrlich led the Office of Education, Faculty and Academic Affairs since August 2001. Before that, she was the residency coordinator in the Department of Surgery for 2 years. She is an attorney by training, and was a public defender in Bronx County for six years before becoming the Director of Alumni Affairs at her law school. Ms. Ehrlich wants the faculty to know that all questions are welcome – and your e-mails will always be answered promptly. |

Tobia, Manager, Faculty Records Office
Janice Tobia has been involved in the Faculty Records Office
for 24 years. Ms. Tobia wants the faculty to know that the
Faculty Records Staff is available to answer any questions
about academic appointments. Faculty members are always
welcome to come down to the office (in the Lower Dean?s
Office) at their convenience, or they will receive an immediate
response to email (Janice.Tobia@med.nyu.edu)
or phone questions (263-5194). |

Madeline Rios
Executive Assistant to the Vice Dean for Education, Faculty and Academic Affairs
Maddy joined the Office of Education, Faculty and Academic Affairs in October 2006, and has worked with Dr. Steven Abramson as his Assistant for over 15 years at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. |

Laurie A. St.
Denis, Coordinator of Faculty Records Office
Laurie St. Denis has worked in the Dean's Office for almost
20 years, 16 of them in the Office of Faculty Records.
Prior to joining NYU, she earned a B.S. in Business Administration
and Mathematics and worked in retail management. Laurie's
current responsibilities focus on all aspects of the appointment,
promotion and tenure process as well as database management.

Denise
M. Romano-Jordan, Project Associate
Part of NYU for more than 12 years , Denise
maintains and ensures accuracy and integrity of School
of Medicine Faculty Records various databases. She
is the liaison for the Dean?s Office with Washington
Square and the AAMC, and is responsible for answering
daily inquiries and requests . |
