The Administrative Core consists of two components: 1) the senior leadership; and 2) the administrative staff. The senior leadership of the Center consists of the Center Director and the Internal Advisory Committee. The Internal Advisory Committee is comprised of the Research Core Directors, Director of Pilot Projects, Director of Facility Cores, the Facility Core Directors, and the Director of Community Outreach and Education Program (COEP).
The Administrative Core supports and coordinates all activities of the Center. It provides the structural and supervisory support for the members of the Research Cores, Facility Cores, Community Outreach and Education Program, Pilot Projects, and for the training of future Center scientists. Dr. Costa, as Director of the Center, provides the direction and focus of the Center. Ms. Lynda Witte and Ms. Kammy Cabral and the five project associates assigned to the Center provide the daily administrative support. Drs. Klein and Thurston provide key administrative oversight necessary for the coordination, success, and efficient functioning of the Facility Cores and the various components of the Community Outreach and Education Program. Dr. Terry Gordon, the Deputy Director of the Center, also serves as Core Director for the Systemic Toxicology Research Core. Dr. Tang, Director of Pilot Projects, works closely with Dr. Costa and Dr. Gordon in managing the Center. In addition to these interactions, several members of the Administrative Core of the Center serve on various oversight and administrative committees within the Center and within the Department of Environmental Medicine. Thus, the Administrative Core provides a cohesive focus for both the research and administrative activities for the Center as a whole.
