The division conducts research in many aspects of Otology/Neurotology
including cochlear implant electrode design, outcomes from acoustic
neuroma management, outcomes from skull base lesions management,
outcomes from chronic ear disease management and facial nerve
reanimation outcomes. Additionally outcome studies in all aspects
of
cochlear implantation and auditory brainstem implants are regularly

The
new laboratories of genetic research and molecular biology conduct
studies aimed at delineating the genetic causes and mechanisms of
sensorineural hearing loss and possible treatments using genetic
engineering.
Education
The department regularly educates Otolaryngology Residents in all
aspects of Otology/Neurotolgy. An active conference schedule and
temporal bone laboratory facilitate the residents experience and
education. In the third year of training, the Otology Resident runs
the service at Bellevue Hospital including a weekly Otology Clinic
and
a busy surgical schedule. Additionally the department provides a
two
