Introduction
The division of Otology/Neurotology in the Department of Otolaryngology
is active clinically and academically. J. Thomas Roland, Jr., MD,
who
is an associate professor, heads the division. The division provides
medical care at the Tisch Hospital of NYU, Bellevue Hospital and
the
Veterans Administration Hospital in Manhattan.
Patient Services
The clinical staff handles all aspects of Otology/Neurotolgy. Hearing
loss, tinnitus, vestibular disorders and dizziness, and facial nerve
disorders are routinely managed by the physicians. Additionally the
clinical faculty is well known as experts in Cochlear Implants,
Acoustic Neuroma’s, Auditory Brainstem Implant surgery, Skull Base
Lesions, Facial nerve reanimation procedures, Otosclerosis surgery,
chronic ear disease surgery and Meniere’s disease management.
Auditory and Vestibular testing facilities are comprehensive and assist
the clinician in management decisions. Testing includes routine
audiograms, impedence testing, Auditory Brainstem Response testing,
SSEP, Stacked ABR, Otoacoustic emissions, ENG and Platform
Posturography.
