Brief Bio for Devon G. John, MD
Devon John, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at New York University School of Medicine. There is the Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation and has special interests in living donor kidney transplantation. The is also actively involved in liver and hepatobiliary surgery. Dr. John received his undergraduate degree in biology from Princeton University and his medical degree from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He went on to complete his internship and residency in General Surgery at the State University of New York-Health Science Center-Downstate, Brooklyn, New York. He trained in multi-organ transplantation in the combined American Society of Transplantation fellowship training program shared between NYU and Downstate. He received further training in pancreas and laparscopic assisted living donor nephrectomy at the University of Maryland Medical Systems, Baltimore, MD. He has served on numerous local (New York Organ Donor Network), statewide (Department of Health Transplant Committee) and national (United Network for Organ Sharing) committees on organ and tissue transplantation.
Dr. John’s interests in organ transplantation include increasing minority access to organ and tissue transplantation, living donation (kidney and liver), MRI usage in evaluating renal function in the transplanted patient, and the impact of spirituality on the outcomes of organ transplantation.
