Admitting
the most gifted and dedicated students, without regard to their
ability to pay, is an investment in making high-quality care accessible
to all. But the medical school needs partners to ensure we can put
an NYU medical doctor within reach of underrepresented groups, and
reduce graduates' debt load, thus making it easier for them to choose
carreers in community medicine.
Bolstering
institutional funds for scholarships and loans is a priority of
NYU School of Medicine. We must increase the pool of funds available
for financial aid to maintain our commitment to educating a racially
and ethnically diverse student body. Graduating with a lower debt
burden will facilitate young physicians practicing in underserved
communities, pursuing carreers in public health, or entering academic
medicine.
NYU
School of Medicine is committed to providing as much financial assistance
as possible, but nurturing the next generation of physicians requires
substantial support from private sources. We hope that you will
consider making a special gift for scholarships to students from
underserved groups.
