Program Start
Date
The six-month and one-year programs begin in September of each academic
year. The one-month program may begin the 1st day of any month between
September and June.
Required Credentials
Applicants must hold a degree in medicine and documented training
in dermatology. Proficiency in English is a requirement, as demonstrated
by either a phone interview or satisfactory results of a TOEFL examination.

International Physician Observer's Schedule
The International Physician Observer will rotate through the general
and specialty clinics at the New York University's Tisch Hospitaland
affiliated hospital facilities of Bellevue Hospital and the Manhattan
Veteran Administration Heath Harbor System. The Department provides
primary and consultative dermatologic care to over 100,000 ambulatory
and hospitalized patients annually. There are 10 clinic sessions
each week, in addition to daily morning and noon didactic sessions.
If the International
Physician Observer has a specific interest, efforts will be made
to allot additional time to develop experience in the area of interest.
NYU Faculty
The NYU Department of Dermatology has one of the largest full-time
and affiliated faculty in the world. Our faculty is comprised of
internationally recognized leaders within the field of dermatology.
Specific areas of expertise include basic research in pigmentation,
immunology, keratin and molecular biology and clinical subspecialties
including pediatric dermatology, psoriasis, urticaria, skin cancer
and melanoma, blistering diseases, lymphoma, dermatologic and cosmetic
surgery, laser surgery, phototherapy, vitiligo, dermatopathology,
and clinical pharmacology.
