Dermatology Continuing Medical Education

The Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology at NYU Langone offers a wide variety of dermatology conferences and courses that help learners augment their skills and knowledge and grow professionally.

Advances in Dermatology

In collaboration with NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s continuing medical education program, we are proud to host the annual Advances in Dermatology, a symposium for practitioners caring for people with skin disease.

Dermatology is a rapidly evolving specialty, with advances being made constantly in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. New medications and treatment modalities for both common and uncommon dermatologic diseases have been released, or will be in the next few years, that will change the treatment for these conditions. In addition, older medications may still play a role in treating these conditions, and determining how they should be properly incorporated into clinical practice is vital for optimizing patient outcomes.

This two-day program, taught by our experienced faculty, is for practitioners with an interest in the care of patients with skin disorders. Attendees include dermatologists, dermatologic surgeons, other specialists, primary care physicians, and fellows and residents in dermatology. The course focuses on emerging clinically applicable knowledge, from new treatment guidelines and recognition of emerging agents to adverse events and translational research. You learn the best approaches to disease management in order to achieve the highest quality of care and best outcomes for patients. All the major subspecialties of dermatology are covered.

Tuesday Night Conference

Tuesday Night Conference is a case-based dermatology conference in which faculty, fellows, residents, and students from our department meet to conduct evidence-based discussions of interesting dermatology cases as well as challenging diagnostic and management dilemmas. The conference starts with a live patient-viewing session followed by a formal presentation and department-wide discussion of the patient cases.

Held 5 times a year on Tuesday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, the conference takes place at NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street, on the 11th floor for the live patient viewing and on the 12th floor for the case discussions.

Tuesday Night Conference is not held during July, August, and September.

If you are a faculty member, fellow, resident, or student from another NYU Langone department interested in attending, please contact Kristen Gelpi, program associate, at 212-263-5313 or kristen.gelpi@nyulangone.org.

Dermatology Grand Rounds CME

The Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology Grand Rounds series has been an integral part of our educational program for decades. As research in dermatology advances at a great pace, this program serves to introduce, fortify, and explore evolving, innovative, and transformational clinical and basic science concepts that will ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of our patients.

We host nationally and internationally recognized experts in the field of skin health and disease who are directly or indirectly involved in the field of cutaneous medicine, oncology, epidemiology, infectious diseases, pigmentation, photobiology, inflammation, health policy, pharmacology, and surgery. Presenters may be invited from other disciplines of medicine, including where diseases affect other organ systems in addition to the skin or disrupt psychosocial function, or when interdisciplinary collaboration improves patient care and outcomes.

Participants regularly include full-time and voluntary faculty, fellows, residents, medical students, and advanced practice professionals. Sessions are held Friday morning from 8:00AM to 9:00AM, with 45 minutes of lecture and a 15-minute question and answer session. Please check the schedule for presentation titles and dates as they become available.

Credit Designation Statement

NYU Grossman School of Medicine designates this regularly scheduled series for a maximum of one AMA PRA Category 1 Credit for each grand rounds session. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
