YOUR TRIP TO THE OPERATING ROOM
Your Operating Room Staff will meet you in the Preoperative Assessment Area
and escort you to your operating room. If your procedure is being performed
in another area of expertise, an expert in transferring our patients will bring
you to that location.
Upon entering the OR Suite you will be introduced to the surgical team.
You will remove your outer robe and lie on the narrow operating room bed,
where monitoring equipment will be applied to some parts of your body that
help the surgical team observe your blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygenation
level.
If you are receiving sedation or general anesthesia, or if you require medications
intra-operatively, an intravenous line will be inserted and medication administered
via that route.
Rapid transfer of specimens from the unit to our laboratory facilities on
the hospital's fourth floor is accomplished with an internal elevator, offering
direct, immediate access to laboratories on the lower floors.
We've addressed the growing demand for advanced reconstructive and microsurgical
procedures on an outpatient basis. This allows our surgeons to perform a
greater variety of procedures than may be available at other ambulatory surgery
centers, while ensuring the safety and comfort of all our patients. Our surgeons
perform a variety of procedures, with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery.
