Dasen Lab

The focus of research in our laboratory is to understand the formation and function of neural circuits in the developing nervous system. Because of its relative simplicity we are investigating the assembly of circuits in the vertebrate spinal cord. Our work focuses on a large family of genes encoding Hox transcription factors and their roles in determining the identity and connectivity of the diverse neural cell types that control locomotion.
