Anurag Chandra is a radiation oncologist specializing in treating cancers of the chest including cancers of the lung, esophagus and thymus. Dr. Chandra has expertise in using modern and sophisticated radiotherapy techniques such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and 3D conformal radiation therapy (3D CRT).
In treatment planning, Dr. Chandra incorporates a technique called 4-dimensional respiratory-gated CT (4D CT), which allows us to capture the movement of the tumor associated with breathing. In addition, he performs endobronchial brachytherapy in collaboration with thoracic surgeons, which provides focused radiation treatment for tumors growing inside the airways. Dr. Chandra's work allows precise treatment of the tumor while safely sparing normal tissues such as the heart and lungs.
Dr. Chandra actively pursues research in cancers of the chest including lung cancer, esophageal cancer and thymus cancer. He has had several publications involving the IMRT technique.
