Robotically Assisted Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery
Currently we are in a FDA Phase 1 Trial for use of robotic controlled instruments during mitral valve surgery.The surgeon will have the precision of a micro-vascular robot (Zeus System) to perform the operation under his control. The surgeon will sit at an OR console inside the operating room and remotely control the instruments inside the patients chest without the need for a large incision. This should enhance our capability to perform nearly 'closed chest' heart valve surgery.
