Dr. David B. Meyer

Dr. Meyer is an Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at NYU School of Medicine. Currently, he is the Director of the Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Surgery Program. Dr. Meyer is an attending cardiac surgeon at NYU Medical Center and at Bellevue Hospital Center.

Dr. Meyer specializes in pediatric and adult congenital cardiothoracic surgery. He performs pacemaker or defibrillator implantation in children. Dr. Meyer also performs thoracic surgery in children. His interests include neonatal cardiac surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery in children, and surgery for congenital disease in adults.

Dr. Meyer received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine, where he was involved in researching methods for improving outcomes following angioplasty as well as in functional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to study cardiac and skeletal muscle metabolism. He completed his general surgery residency and his thoracic surgery residency at NYU Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric and adult congenital cardiothoracic surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was involved in research into improving the outcome of Fontan operations.
