The frequency of liver abnormalities with statin therapy is actually quite low. (less than 1% of patients have to stop statins because of liver abnormalities). When these rare abnormalities do occur, they are usually so minor (elevations of liver enzymes less than three times normal) that the current recommendations are to continue the medications anyway.
