Core Facilities by Research Center
Here are several of the main services represented by the cores of the CTSI:
CTSI Core Laboratory
Molecular biology support for CTSI clinical research protocols, training
of clinical research fellows and medical students in the laboratory methods
of patient-oriented research.
CTSI Center for Health Informatics & Bioinformatics
CTSI Study Design, Biostatistics & Ethics
The Biostatistics Core will provide statistical consultation and
collaboration to CTSI investigators in all stages of the clinical research
process for approved protocols.
CTSI Population
Health Resource
The CTSI’s PHR initiative is thus focused on the interface of the delivery
of clinical care by urban healthcare delivery systems such as ours and
the health of the clinical and community populations served.
CTSI Community Engagement
The Community Engagement Core of the NYU-HHC CTSI is a campus-community
partnership among New York University (NYU), the New York City Health and
Hospitals Corporation (HHC), and community and government partners serving
New York City’s diverse communities. Community-based research principles (CBPR)
guide the work of the Community Engagement Core.
CTSI Bench to Bedside Consultation
CTSI Research Subject Safety Office
Ensurance of safety and ethical conduct, with protection of human subjects
accorded the highest priority.
The Translational Research
Education and Careers (TREC) Core
TREC prepares health professionals for careers as clinical translational
scientists. TREC programs provide training and mentoring for learners
from predoctoral students through junior faculty. Current programs include
a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation (Translational),
funding/mentoring opportunities for pre- and post-doctoral trainees through
T32 and K12 programs, and the Physician Scientist Training Program, which
supports physicians in training for an extra year of research. We plan to
soon bring online a number of other educational initiatives, including seminar
series and on-line learning tools for clinical research.
