Mission:

The mission of the Center for the Study of Asian American Health (CSAAH) is to reduce health disparities in the Asian American community through research, training and partnership.

CSAAH is one of four various, distinct Centers of research, education and training under the NYU Institute of Community Health and Research.

5th Annual Asian American Health Conference
The theme of this year's conference, “Reinvesting in Our Communities for Health Equity” - provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of making continuous investments in our communities to address issues of inequity and provide linkages to resources for healthier communities. (more)

This ground-breaking textbook examines Asian American health from a public health perspective. It provides an overview of the social, political, economic, and cultural forces that influence the distribution of disease and illness in Asian American communities. The book explores the diversity within the Asian community with respect to health seeking behavior and knowledge, socioeconomic status, educational level, cultural traditions, and specific health care needs and issues. By examining the contextual factors that impact health, the book seeks to facilitate a meaningful dialogue and identify creative solutions for health disparities faced by racial and ethnic minority communities. “Asian American Communities and Health:  Context, Research, Policy, and Action” Book Release
Please join the NYU Institute of Community Health and Research and Center for the Study of Asian American Health to celebrate the release of a new textbook, “Asian American Communities and Health:  Context, Research, Policy, and Action” on Thursday, April 9th, 2009 from 2 pm to 4 pm.  The event will be held at NYU Langone Medical Center, 555 East First Avenue, Smilow Lobby and Alumni Plaza.
