PRAVENE NATH, MD, NAMED CHIEF MEDICAL INFORMATION OFFICER
FOR NYU MEDICAL CENTER

NEW YORK, NY – August 7, 2007 – Dr. Pravene Nath has been appointed Chief Medical Information Officer for NYU Medical Center. In this new role, Dr. Nath will continue managing clinical systems and, in addition, will now oversee the clinical informatics efforts for the Medical Center.

This new position will help foster a collaborative informatics approach toward improving clinical quality, effectiveness, and outcomes research related to information systems. He will report to the Chief Information Officer and will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Center leadership, other informatics experts, and the entire clinical community. Dr. Nath will also continue his part-time clinical practice as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Nath earned his M.D. and master's degree in engineering at the University of Michigan. He completed his residency training in emergency medicine at NYU/Bellevue and joined the faculty in 2003 as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Assistant Director of Clinical Informatics.  In 2004, Dr. Nath assumed the role of Senior Director of Clinical Information Systems and has been a champion for the needs of physicians and nurses as he led the successful implementation of ICIS, the new hospital information system.
