Rehabilitation Experts from Rusk Institute to Go to China for Major Medical Conference
On September 27, 1:00 p.m. NYU Medical Center will hold a press conference in Conference Room C of the HCC building, 15th Floor at 550 First Ave. between 30th & 33rd St. to announce an upcoming medical conference in China that will examine some of the most innovative rehabilitation programs in the U.S. today.
Seven experts from the Rusk Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine at NYU Medical Center will be traveling to Shandong, China to speak at the 2006 International Conference for New Development in Rehabilitation will take place at the Linyi People Hospital’s International Convention Center on October 13-15, 2006. The objectives of the conference include promoting information and technology exchange between the USA and China in order to improve rehabilitation levels and the healthcare system in China, as well as bringing capital investment and brainpower to Shandong in order to establish a world-class rehabilitation center.
Faculty members speaking at the press conference are: Arnold Stern, M.D., Assistant Dean for Extramural Education, Jonathan Whiteson, M.D., Director of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Medicine, and Mariano Rey, M.D., Director of the Institute of Community Health. Also speaking will be Mr. John Lau, Chairman of Chinese American Chamber of Commerce.
The seven speakers at the conference in China are: Arnold Stern, M.D., Professor of Pharmacology, Jonathan Whiteson, M.D., Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine, Arthur Jimenez, M.D., Director of Rehabilitation at the Hospital for Joint Diseases, Victoria Zhang, M.D., Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine, Ana Mola, R.N., Program Director for the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention Center, and Kate Parkin, M.S., Director of Physical and Occupational Therapy.
