NYU School of Medicine Commencement

NYU Langone Medical Center is pleased to announce that New York Governor David A. Paterson will be the keynote speaker at the NYU School of Medicine commencement ceremony on May 15, 2008.  The ceremony will take place at 4pm in Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

There are 154 candidates for the Doctor of Medicine degree, as well as ten Master of Science candidates in two different disciplines – Master of Clinical Investigation and Medical Education.

This year’s class is a distinguished group born in 23 different countries and representing 27 different states, as well as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.  Almost all of the class has participated in independent research during their medical school career; 23 completed a full year of research under the auspices of such prestigious programs as the NIH, Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship and the Luce Fellowship for Language Study.  Twelve students pursued an additional degree while in medical school, five in MPH programs and seven in the Medical Scientist Training Program leading to a combined MD/PhD.  Eleven students will receive their degree with honors.
