Clinical Responsibilities
Dr. Laurence T. D. Sperber is a fellowship-trained Corneal and Refractive Surgeon, with a practice that focuses on Cornea and Laser Vision Correction, but also includes Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Laser Cataract Surgery.Dr. Sperber graduated with honors from Harvard University and then earned his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his Internship in Medicine at the Brigham and Women?s Hospital in Boston and then did his Ophthalmology residency at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Sperber was then selected for a Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Sperber is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at New York University Medical School, an Associate Attending Surgeon at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He is the Director of Residency Training for the Department of Ophthalmology at New York University Medical School and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. He is also the Director of the Cornea Service at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Sperber also sits on the Medical Advisory Board of the Eye Bank for Sight Restoration in New York.
Dr. Sperber has lectured at many outstanding ophthalmologic institutions around the United States, as well as at many major national and international Ophthalmology meetings. He has published scientific articles in many major Ophthalmology journals, as well as multiple chapters in leading Ophthalmology textbooks. He is very active in ophthalmic research, focusing on laser vision correction, refractive surgery, and laser surgery for the removal of cataracts.
