Clinical Responsibilities
Dr. Grant joined the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center in 2005 as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the NYU School of Medicine. He came to NYU from the University of California Irvine, where he founded and directed the UCI Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. He obtained his B.S. in Biology and Ph.D. in Applied Biological Sciences at M.I.T., where his thesis advisor was the legendary neurophysiologist Dr. Jerome Y. Lettvin. Dr. Grant received his M.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, and completed neurology residency and epilepsy fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Grant is the recipient of an NIH-K-23 funded research award to study the impact of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) on brain regions distant from the seizure focus, and in particular the effect of TLE on perception. He has also initiated several research projects designed to streamline different components of the pre-surgical evaluation for intractable epilepsy. Other areas of interest include medical ethics, history of neurology, and medical education. He is the author of multiple original papers and book chapters.
