Clinical Responsibilities
Gayatri Devi MD is a Clinical Associate Professor at New York University School of Medicine and serves as a staff Neurologist at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Devi is the Director of the New York Memory and Healthy Aging Services. A board-certified Neurologist, Dr. Devi has additional certifications in Pain Medicine, Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurology. She has specialized in the early diagnosis and treatment of memory disorders related to aging and menopause for 12 years and is sub-specialty board certified in behavioral neurology.
Dr. Devi obtained her Advanced Levels (Sciences) from the University of London and graduated from Grace University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and dual residencies at State University of New York Downstate. She was Chief Resident of Neurology before becoming a fellow in Behavioral Neurology in the Department of Neurology at Columbia University. She was then Assistant Professor at SUNY Stony Brook and Director of the Long Island Alzheimer's Disease Center. She returned to Manhattan as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Columbia University and was Director of the Memory Disorders Center at the Center for Women's Health at Columbia Presbyterian-Eastside. She has been at her current practice for over 8 years.
Dr. Devi has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. She has presented papers at national meetings of the American Neurological Association, the American Neuropsychiatric Association and the North American Menopause Society. She has appeared in the media to discuss memory disorders, including the BBC, WSJ, Reuters, FOX, ABC, CBS, 1010 WINS and Time. She is president of the National Council for Women?s Health, New York. She has participated in and led several phase II and III clinical drug trials for the treatment of memory disorders. She is the author of "Estrogen, Memory and Menopause" (Alpha Sigma Books, 2001) and ?What your doctor may not tell you about Alzheimer?s Disease? (Time Warner Books; November 2004).
