Licensed and Board Certified Forensic Psychiatrist; Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, New York University School of Medicine; Chief, Section on Forensic Psychiatry, Mental Illness Prevention Center, NYU School of Medicine; twenty-five years of experience in a public healthcare setting, including ten years as Director of Forensic Psychiatry, Bellevue Hospital Center, two years as Director of the New York County and Bellevue-Rikers Island Assisted Outpatient Treatment Programs, and Director of the Bronx Criminal and Supreme Court Forensic Evaluation Service;. Extensive experience in Forensic and Correctional Healthcare, risk assessment (dangerousness and suicidality), bioethics, ethical issues related to correctional-social-legal psychiatric interfaces and psychiatric- legal policy, assessment and treatment of stress disorders, crisis intervention, and emergency preparedness. A seasoned senior-level clinical administrator; a reputable forensic psychiatric consultant, and a notable teacher, supervisor and lecturer. More than two decades dedicated to raising the quality of patient care, therapeutic programming and continuity of care for forensic-correctional populations including but not limited to the study of best practice standards, developing treatment and discharge planning protocols, coordinating inter-facility and inter-agency communication and continuity of patient care, and expediting court ordered evaluations. Special qualifications in developing innovative approaches and programs that are efficient, efficacious, and cost-effective as well as developing progressive yet pertinent quality assessment and improvement projects, measures and monitoring.
