Clinical Responsibilities
The evaluation of bone and soft tissue tumors involves a multidisciplinary approach. In consultation with the orthopedic oncologist and pathologist, the musculoskeletal radiologist often plays a vital role in directing the work-up of bone and soft tissue tumors. In addition, musculoskeletal radiologists often perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. In collaboration with the orthopedic oncologists, our section is actively involved in the evaluation of neoplastic diseases of the musculoskeletal system. We are experienced in not only the radiologic diagnosis of these lesions but in the imaging-guided percutaneous biopsy of these lesions as well. We also offer percutaneous treatment of osteoid osteoma of bone by radiofrequency ablation. This treatment has gained popularity over the recent years because of its high success rate and minimal morbidity.
