Awareness Network for Immigrant Minority Populations
The Center for Immigrant Health (CIH), in conjunction with the NYU Cancer Institute of the NYU School of Medicine, established a Cancer Awareness Network for Immigrant Minority Populations (CANIMP) in 2000. This project focuses on building bridges between immigrant communities and cancer researchers in the areas of:
The National Cancer Institute of the NIH funded CANIMP as a Special Populations Network to respond to the disparities in utilization and participation of immigrants and minorities in cancer prevention, detection and treatment services. CANIMP has developed a network to embrace and inform immigrant communities via trusted community-based organizations and ethnic media appropriate to culture and linguistics.
