Education forms a core of both the NYU Medical Center and the Cardiac Rehabilitation
Center. Attending physicians, house staff and medical students work together
to assure state of the art medical education and patient care. Special workshops
are run for practicing physicians. Patient education is also an integral part
of the educational process of rehabilitation
and prevention.
Classes teach both cardiology and rehabilitation medicine. Workshops cover
many topics, seeking to increase awareness of rehabilitation medicine.
Residents
and Cardiology and Physiatry fellows work closely with the attending physicians
and other rehabilitation staff, providing world class education for physicians
in training in our education center.
Teaching is an integral part of the care process, and classes often accompany
residents' rounds.
Training also takes place for the physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise
physiology, social work, psychology and nursing staffs. Training consitsts
of both practical and "hands-on" teaching with mentoring by experienced therapists
and nurses, as well as education by rehabilitation center physicians.
