Patient care at the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center is arranged around the concept
of teamwork. Many people have heard the expression "it takes a village to raise
a child", and we adopt a similar philosophy in patient care. Every patient is
seen by an integrated team of healthcare providers,
including physicians from rehabilitation medicine and cardiology, nurses, physical
therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, patient educators,
nutritionists and other specialists.

Rooms are designed with lots of light and an airy feel, to facilitate relaxation
and healing. Both private and 2 person rooms are available, with 2 person rooms
arranged to allow both privacy, and conversation between roommates, rather
than the typical side-by-side configuration of a hospital room. Rooms are located
down the hall from our gym and patient education
facility, to allow for easy walking between activities.

Patients are supervised by 24 hour nursing care, from our centralized
nursing station, located in the middle of the patient care area. Patients
are met in their rooms, in our patient education center and in the gym for
the various activities and classes throughout the day by our staff. Patient's
families can visit with patients in their rooms, and are encouraged to participate
in the care plan for the patients.

Patients stay at the center with the intention of returning them to their
outside lives, rehabilitated and ready to meet the challenges of the outside
world. Patients are not simply released, upon discharge, but careful follow-up
planning, including continuing outpatient classes are established with the
patient and their physician. We view inpatient care, as an important step on
the path to recovery, but the real purpose is to return patients out of the
hospital to their outside lives.
