Following the Seasons for Optimal Health Series

Following the Seasons for Optimal Health Series

Description

Nourishing life according to the five seasons as it unfolds is one of the basic beliefs of Chinese Medicine. Through this series you will learn simple and effective ways to take care of yourself by becoming aware of each season’s corresponding element.

Winter: Water Element
The winter element gives us the capacity to assess and take risks for new possibilities and to protect ourselves if and when necessary. The Water element beckons us to minimize activities to preserve energy, be more introspective and receptive. Learn to recognize these elements in you and when they are out of balance.

Health Screening and Guidelines at Any Age: Which Tests Are Right for Me?

Description

Getting preventive care is one of the most important steps you can take to manage your health. That’s because when a condition is diagnosed early, it is usually easier to treat. Acting early also gives you the opportunity to modify lifestyle choices and can help prevent the risk of cancer and heart disease. This lecture will discuss the specific screening recommendations, including when and how often you should have the screening and what the screening is designed to do.

Lunch will be provided after the program. In collaboration with the Office of Business Affairs at Woodhull Medical Center North Brooklyn Health Network.
