Judith D. Goldberg, Sc.D.
Professor and Director, Division of Biostatistics

Judith D. Goldberg, Sc.D., has been Professor of Environmental Medicine and the Director of the Division of Biostatistics since she joined NYU School of Medicine in late 1999. She is an elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA) and of the AAAS. She has held many elected and appointed offices in national and international organizations, including President of the Biometric Society (ENAR); Chair of the Biometrics Section of the ASA; Chair of the Statistics Section U of AAAS; and Chair of the Fellows Committee of ASA. She has been a member of the FDA Advisory Committee on Vaccines and Related Biological Products, was a member of the NIAID Study Section on Clinical and Field Studies, and serves as ad hoc member for several study sections and member of the External Advisory Boards of the University of Virginia Cancer Center and of the EPRI-NIH TERESA Study at Harvard. She is a currently a member of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Targeted Therapies scientific peer review committee and is Associate Editor, Statistics in Biopharmaceutical Research.

Dr. Goldberg is Director of the Study Design, Biostatistics, and Clinical Research Ethics Core for the NYU-Bellevue CTSI, of the Biostatistics Shared Resource of the NYU Cancer Institute, of the Environmental Health Statistics and Bioinformatics Facility Core of the NIEHS Center, and of the PhD Graduate Program in Biostatistics. She is the PI of the Biostatistics and Data Management Core for the NCI-funded International Myeloproliferative Disorders Consortium, and of the Biostatistics and Data Management Core of the Department of Defense-funded Locally Advanced Breast Cancer Center of Excellence at SoM. She was the PI of the EPA funded study of Effects of Air Pollution on Breast Cancer, of the Biostatistics Core of the NIDCR-funded NYU Minority Oral Cancer RAAHP Center based at the School of Dentistry, of two NCI-funded CaBIG projects in the Integrated Cancer Research workspace. She has a broad range of previous experience in Biostatistics from both an academic setting (Mt. Sinai School of Medicine) and from industry (Vice President, Biostatistics and Data Management at Bristol-Myers Squibb). She has authored/co-authored over 100 publications in major journals in areas of statistics and clinical and translational research. Dr. Goldberg has extensive statistical expertise and experience in the areas of design, conduct, and analysis of randomized trials and observational studies, evaluation of disease screening tests, misclassification, survival analysis, and censored data methods, statistical methods in epidemiology, and statistical genetics and genomics.

Education :
Dr. Goldberg earned her Sc.D. in Biostatistics from Harvard University, School of Public Health and her A.B. in Mathematics from Barnard College.
