Michael L Smith, MD is an Assistant Professor of neurosurgery for adult and adolescent disorders of the brain and spine at NYU Langone Medical Center. He joined the department in 2008. Dr. Smith earned his medical degree at University of Virginia School of Medicine and did his residency training University of Pennsylvania. Following his residency, Dr. Smith completed a spinal surgery fellowship at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London. Dr. Smith maintains a general neurosurgery practice at NYULMC including simple and complex spine and general cranial disorders including meningiomas, pituitary adenomas, gliomas, and metastases. Areas of research that interest him or spinal deformity, spinal tumors, minimally invasive surgical techniques and intraoperative monitoring. Dr. Smith is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.Insurance
