Research Summary

  Dr. Slater has practiced interventional cardiology for over 30 years and pioneered interventional programs in coronary angioplasty, mitral and aortic valvuloplasty as well as patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defect closure.  Most recently he has directed the program in the non-surgical treatment of aortic and mitral valve disease.  He has been involved with numerous research programs investigating the non-surgical percutaneous repair of mitral regurgitation and aortic stenosis as well as treatment of myocardial infarction and coronary angioplasty and authored papers and reviews on subjects ranging from the treatment of myocardial rupture after heart attack to prevention of coronary artery disease.
