Clinical Responsibilities

I am a board-certified obstetrician and maternal-fetal medicine specialist dedicated to the care, diagnosis and treatment of women with maternal medical issues, ultrasound needs, fetal abnormalities, preeclampsia, history of preterm birth, incompetent cervix, and multiple gestation. I specialize in prenatal diagnosis and invasive diagnostic procedures such as CVS and amniocentesis.

Dr. Ashley S. Roman has been a member of the faculty of the NYU School of Medicine since 2005. She is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is Associate Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at NYU. Dr. Roman has published widely in the area of preterm birth and is the author or co-author of over 70 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, abstracts, and book chapters. Her research interests include the prediction and prevention of spontaneous preterm birth, and she has focused in recent years on the use of omega-3 fatty acids for preventing preterm birth. Dr. Roman has been the recipient of multiple research and teaching awards. Dr. Roman was selected by her peers to be included in the "Best Doctors in America" database for 2007-2008. Her areas of specialty and interest include preterm birth, preeclampsia, fetal diagnosis and therapy, and the management of complex maternal medical conditions in pregnancy, including lupus and maternal cardiac disorders.
