Clinical Responsibilities

Pediatric radiology is a challenging and exciting subspecialty of radiology in which all modalities of imaging are used to evaluate the ill child. As the number of imaging studies on pediatric patients continues to increase, our role includes helping the clinician order the appropriate study to limit unnecessary radiation. The close working relationship between pediatric radiology and referring physicians allows us to be actively involved in the patient's work up and care.<br><br>Teaching pediatric radiology to the radiology and pediatric residents as well as fourth year medical students who participate in our elective is a particularly rewarding part of my job. Residents learn through hands-on experience supplemented by small group teaching sessions. The pediatric radiology section has an extensive digitized teaching file that is constantly being updated to enhance resident education during both formal and informal conferences.<br>
