Dr. Bart A. Kummer is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine and a gastroenterologist at The Trinity Center, at NYU Langone Medical Center.
Board certified in Gastroenterology, Dr. Kummer specializes in colon cancer screening, the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal pain, esophageal disease, and chronic diarrhea, as well as travel medicine. Dr. Kummer has been in clinical practice and has taught medical residents and students for more than 25 years.
Named a fellow of both the American College of Physicians and American Gastroenterological Association, Dr. Kummer is also a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In recognition of his work, Dr. Kummer has received several awards, including Castle Connolly's Top Doctor listing for the past 19 years (1994-2012), Patient's Choice Award for the past 5 years (2008-2012), and Teacher of the Year Award in Physical Diagnosis from the NYU School of Medicine.
Dr. Kummer received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. He served his internship and residency at the Harlem Hospital Center and completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at St. Luke's Medical Center in New York City.
