Dr. Darren J. Friedman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York University School of Medicine. He is an attending surgeon at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, NYU Medical Center, and NY Downtown Hospital. Dr. Friedman specializes in shoulder surgery, sports medicine, and musculoskeletal trauma surgery. He has extensive experience in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization, arthroscopic nerve decompression, sports medicine, minimally invasive joint preservation, tendon transfers, shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, and fracture care. Dr. Friedman earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University with Honors and his M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center - University Hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he served as Chief Resident during his last year. Dr. Friedman furthered his training and completed the Harvard Shoulder Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and an AO Trauma Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
