Clinical Responsibilities

Dr. Alisa Femia is board certified in Dermatology. She attended medical school at SUNY Stony Brook, where she graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors and was awarded the Glasgow-Rubin Commendation for Academic Achievement. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital, and then completed a Dermatology residency at SUNY Stony Brook, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Femia then went on to complete a Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital, specializing in Dermatology-Rheumatology/Autoimmune Connective Tissue Disease. During this fellowship, Dr. Femia participated in and led several research projects for patients with autoimmune connective tissue diseases that resulted in publication. Dr. Femia also helped to train Harvard Dermatology Residents, working closely with the Department of Rheumatology, and began giving talks on autoimmune connective tissue disease on the national and international level. Dr. Femia continues to commit herself to the care of patients with autoimmune connective tissue disease. Her other clinical interests include medical dermatology and inpatient dermatology. Dr. Femia's hope is to improve patients' quality-of-life and to treat skin disease associated with underlying autoimmune disease. Dr. Femia sees patients at NYU Dermatology Associates.
